Volleyball Game Preview: St. Mary's Knights vs. Mesquite Wildcats

For the first time this season, St. Mary will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Mesquite Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary's is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, St. Mary's got the win against Sahuarita by a conclusive 3-0.

St. Mary's never let Sahuarita on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-10, 28-26.

Meanwhile, Mesquite didn't have quite enough to beat Agua Fria on Friday and fell 3-2.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Mesquite sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-11.

Mesquite now has a losing record of 5-6. As for St. Mary's, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

St. Mary's might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Mesquite when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
