Baseball Recap: Hilton Head Island Takes Down Greer in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hilton Head Island had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Greer Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Seahawks have posted since April 3rd.

The result came thanks to Phoenix Shapiro's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hilton Head Island is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-17 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jensen Boretti, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Hilton Head Island hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Hilton Head Island's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-19. As for Greer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.

As of now, neither Hilton Head Island nor the Yellow Jackets have any future games scheduled.
