Soccer Game Preview: Montgomery Academy vs. Montgomery Catholic

The Montgomery Academy Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Montgomery Catholic Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Montgomery Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Montgomery Academy barely beat Auburn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Montgomery Academy was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Auburn on Tuesday. With Montgomery Academy ahead 5-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

They hit Auburn with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jacob Stubblefield (2), Cade Segars (2), Hampton Welch (2), and William Brewer Welch (2).

Meanwhile, Montgomery Catholic lost 4-1 to Trinity Presbyterian on Tuesday. One reason for the loss might be Montgomery Catholic's aggressive play style: Frankie Hayner and Ben Chitlik were both handed yellow cards.

Montgomery Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those four matchups. As for Montgomery Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Everything went Montgomery Academy's way against Montgomery Catholic when the teams last played back in February of 2023, as Montgomery Academy made off with a 6-1 victory.
