Preview: Wright City Wildcats vs. St. Charles Pirates
The Wright City Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the St. Charles Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wright City will be strutting in after a win while St. Charles will be coming in after a defeat.
Wright City's six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They secured a 57-51 W over Christian Fellowship. Wright City's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
St. Charles suffered their biggest defeat yet this season two weeks ago. They were dealt a 73-23 loss at the hands of Ursuline Academy. While losing is never fun, St. Charles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Ursuline Academy is ranked 46th).
Wright City's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for St. Charles, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Wright City lost to St. Charles on the road by a decisive 55-36 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Wright City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
