Softball Game Preview: South Garner Titans vs. Cleveland Rams

South Garner hasn't had much luck against Cleveland recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. South Garner will take on Cleveland at 6:00 p.m. South Garner has given up an average of 16.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Garner is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to Willow Spring.

Meanwhile, Cleveland had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trojans, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since April 23, 2024.

Karsyn Hudacky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kendall Gaunt, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Cleveland's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for South Garner, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

South Garner might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Cleveland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can South Garner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
