Football Recap: Lakeside Christian Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lakeside Christian lost to Shorecrest Prep back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Lions put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 35-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Lakeside Christian was led to victory by Peyton Rochell and Jaxon Vela. Rochell threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, while Vela rushed for 101 yards and one TD. What's more, Rochell racked up 26 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Jeremiah Gooch was in the mix too, providing Lakeside Christian with one score.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Lakeside Christian proved: they limited Shorecrest Prep to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. The victory was the fourth in a row for Lakeside Christian, bringing their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.8 points over those games. As for Shorecrest Prep, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside Christian will venture away from home to square off against Calvary Chapel Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.17 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Shorecrest Prep, they will head out on the road to take on Sports Leadership & Management at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
