McAllen fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Vela on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vela Sabercats by a score of 47-44. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

McAllen's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was D'Aundre Canada, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Rios, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points.

Jordan Bustamante continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Vela, going 9 of 16 on his way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Noah Lopez, who posted nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

McAllen's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-9. As for Vela, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 29-4.
