Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon McKinney, who rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Those 121 rushing yards gave McKinney a new career-high. Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Parish Episcopal proved: they limited Trinity Christian to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. While three picked up at least three total tackles, Trip Brown stood above the rest. He forced one fumble and made three total tackles (1.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception. Parish Episcopal hasn't allowed more than 8.4 yards per carry in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Liberty Christian didn't have too much trouble with Prestonwood Christian on Friday as they won 38-24.
Liberty Christian's win came from a few key players Parish Episcopal will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Quinn Murphy, who threw for 339 yards and four TDs. Correll Buckhalter was another key back, gaining 104 total yards and three touchdowns.
One reason for the win was Liberty Christian's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cooper Witten, Ndi Etta, and Cade Violi, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Prestonwood Christian's side was Witten, who picked up a sack, made 15 total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended two passes.
Liberty Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Parish Episcopal, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Parish Episcopal has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 393.9 total yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 350 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Parish Episcopal might still be hurting after the 45-24 loss they got from Liberty Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
