Flag Football Recap: Athens Drive Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Athens Drive extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-7. They were dealt a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Wakefield Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina flag football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Wolverines are ranked first).

As for Wakefield, their win bumped their record up to 19-0. Considering they have won 16 contests by more than 19 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Quinn Pope, who threw for 234 yards and six touchdowns while completing 90% of her passes. Those six passing touchdowns gave her a new career-high. Lyla Bagwell was another key player, picking up 86 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Athens Drive is set to face off against their familiar foe Rolesville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Wakefield will square off against rival Leesville Road at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wolverines 0.6, the Pride 6.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
