Merrillville had a senior duo take command as Jalen McAlister shot 70% from the field en route to 17 points and five steals and Kelvion Brown made all 6 shots he took for 14 points in addition to six boards and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McAlister has scored all season. Charles Hardiman was another key player, putting up 12 points along with five steals and three blocks.
Despite the loss, Hobart still got an impressive performance from Ryan Basham, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 26 points and five rebounds. Those 26 points gave Basham a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Johnson, who posted nine points in addition to six assists and five boards.
Merrillville's win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Hobart, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
