Volleyball Recap: Cambridge's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Cambridge's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Belleville Wildcats by a score of 3-2. If the Bluejays were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cambridge wouldn't go down easily and took Belleville into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 19-25, 23-25, 15-11.

When it comes to explaining why Cambridge lost, don't look at Ava Williams. Despite the final result, she had 15 digs and four assists. Williams is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Tara Bettenhausen also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Cambridge's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for Belleville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Cambridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against St. Mary's Springs on the 13th. As for Belleville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Columbus on the 13th.
