Basketball Recap: Fannindel Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kor'ziareona Aubrey and Korshonti Aubrey

Fannindel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 59-35 to the Dodd City Hornets. The Falcons lost against the Hornets in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 61-6 score last time.

Despite the loss, Fannindel had strong showings from Korshonti Aubrey, who posted five points in addition to ten boards and four steals, and Kor'Ziareona Aubrey, who put up 17 points and five rebounds. That was a full 48.6% of Fannindel's points, marking the 16th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Fannindel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.

Fannindel's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Dodd City, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Fannindel Falcons face off against the Ector Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dodd City, they are taking a road trip to square off against Miller Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miller Grove will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Dodd City surely won't give up without a fight.
