Basketball Recap: Matt Stophel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead DSST: Cedar over DSST: College View

After flying high against Lincoln last Friday, DSST: Cedar came back down to earth. The DSST: Cedar Falcons came up short against the DSST: College View Wolves on Tuesday, falling 56-35. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-53 back in January.

DSST: Cedar's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matt Stophel, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards. Stophel is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Manny Tarin-Aguilar was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, DSST: Cedar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

DSST: College View was led to victory by Joshua Sosa and Isaias Tomita. Sosa went 7-for-9 on his way to 20 points and three steals, while Tomita posted 11 points along with seven steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig Johnson, who had five points in addition to five boards and four steals.

DSST: Cedar's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for DSST: College View, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.

DSST: Cedar has already played their next match, a 72-55 loss against DSST: Conservatory Green on the 20th. As for DSST: College View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-47 win against DSST: Montview on the 20th.
