Softball Recap: Liberty Chargers vs. Tohopekaliga Tigers        
        
		
            
 If Liberty was riding high  off their  17-7 takedown of Ridge Community last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Liberty Chargers fell  14-10 to the Tohopekaliga Tigers on Thursday. Liberty has not had much luck with Tohopekaliga recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
  Lauren (Lizzie) Giger and  Kailyn Mejia stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Giger  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4, while  Mejia  scored a  run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  Mylee Rodriguez, who  went 2-for-5 with two  RBI and a  double.
 Even though they lost, Liberty was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tohopekaliga only posted a  batting average of  .292.
 On Tohopekaliga's side,  Maria Santiago was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned  (and four unearned) runs off   eight  hits (she also didn't allow any  walks). Santiago has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Santiago was even better at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Angelica Castro, who  scored three  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.  Mya Rivera was another key contributor,  going 2-for-4 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and a  triple.
 Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Tohopekaliga, the  victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
 Liberty is on the road again  on Monday to play Osceola at 5:00  p.m. As for Tohopekaliga, they will challenge Poinciana at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday.
