Basketball Game Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. Travelers Rest Devildogs

The Mauldin Mavericks will square off against the Travelers Rest Devildogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Mauldin is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Westside just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a hard 58-39 fall against the Rams. The loss was the Mavericks' first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Travelers Rest). Everything went their way against Southside on Tuesday as Travelers Rest made off with a 55-30 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Devildogs considering their 22-point performance the game before.

Mauldin better keep an eye on Jadin Dandy. She was instrumental in Travelers Rest's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. Mabry Mullis was another key player, going 7 for 13 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mauldin fell to 4-1. As for Travelers Rest, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Mauldin strolled past Travelers Rest in their previous matchup on Friday by a score of 40-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mauldin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
