Softball Recap: East Central Wins Going Away Against Gulfport

East Central lost to Gulfport back in April of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The East Central Hornets put the hurt on the Gulfport Admirals with a sharp 7-1 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

East Central's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kailee Lawson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Valerie Merrill was another, getting no hits from her two at bats.

East Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. Gulfport's record is now 1-4.

Coming up, East Central will head out to challenge George County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gulfport, they will host Pascagoula at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
