Basketball Recap: Genoa Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Evan Allgood and Jackson Kirura

It was a good run, but Genoa Christian Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Atlantic Christian Cougars. While losing is never fun, Genoa Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 476th in Ohio, while Atlantic Christian is ranked 181st in New Jersey).

Genoa Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Jackson Kirura and Evan Allgood. Kirura shot 45% from the field to rack up 31 points, while Allgood went 7-for-13 en route to 18 points and five boards. Those 31 points gave Kirura a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Gilham, who posted five points.

Atlantic Christian was led to victory by Noah Stokes and Ethan Costello. Stokes scored 30 points, while Costello had 20 points. Stokes' big performance that afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Genoa Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Atlantic Christian, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-10.

As of now, neither Genoa Christian Academy nor Atlantic Christian have any future games scheduled.
