Baseball Game Preview: Lakewood Cougars vs. Meridian Trojans

The Lakewood Cougars will challenge the Meridian Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lakewood came up short against Mount Vernon on Wednesday, falling 12-2. The Cougars have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Lakewood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Hayes, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-0 to Burlington-Edison.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Lakewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Meridian when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
