Preview: Cassville Wildcats vs. McDonald County Mustangs
Cassville and McDonald County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Cassville Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the McDonald County Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cassville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while McDonald County is ranked 94th).
Cassville suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 55-35 loss at the hands of Marionville.
Meanwhile, McDonald County came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Adrian 62-40. McDonald County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.
McDonald County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Roslynn Huston led the charge by scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlee Cooper, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Cassville's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for McDonald County, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Cassville couldn't quite finish off McDonald County when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 50-47. Can Cassville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
