Recap: Otsego Knights vs. Swanton Bulldogs
The Otsego Knights managed to keep up with the Swanton Bulldogs until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Otsego was the victim of a rough 63-38 defeat at the hands of Swanton. Otsego has struggled against Swanton recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Otsego lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Lehr. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Sophie Dimick was another key contributor, scoring no points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Emma Crow was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Gowing, who scored 14 points.
Otsego's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.7 points per game. As for Swanton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Otsego won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Delta at 6:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Delta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Otsego in Ohio (Delta is ranked 360th, while Otsego is ranked 741st). As for Swanton, they will play host again and welcome Leipsic, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
