Basketball Recap: Bennett Long's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Anderson Homeschool over Indianapolis Northwest W

Anderson HomeSchool and Indianapolis Northwest W squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Anderson HomeSchool had to settle for second. They came up short against the Indianapolis Northwest W Warriors, falling 65-45. The SONS have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Several SONS players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bennett Long, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 17 points. Long's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Clark Emly, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Indianapolis Northwest W had a senior duo take command as Finn Sempsrott went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals and Ryland Dolan almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Sempsrott now owns an excellent 45.4% field goal percentage. Taylor Smith was another key player, putting up eight points.

Anderson HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Indianapolis Northwest W, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Anderson HomeSchool didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-0 victory against Wyoming HomeSchool on the 20th. As for Indianapolis Northwest W, they have also already played their next contest, a 69-59 win against Columbus HomeSchool on the 14th.
