Baseball Recap: Sterling Heights Stevenson's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Sterling Heights Stevenson's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Troy Colts. The win was some much needed relief for the Titans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Will Idyle tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jake Leonard, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Brett Leonard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Sterling Heights Stevenson's victory bumped their record up to 20-11. As for Troy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sterling Heights Stevenson will face off against Edison Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 4, the Pioneers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Troy, they will take on Detroit Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
