Baseball Recap: Youngsville Drops Highest Score of Season Against North Clarion

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Youngsville). Everything went their way against the North Clarion Wolves on Friday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

James Johnson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Youngsville got a big performance out of Cole Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Bryce Spinks also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Youngsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Youngsville back to even at 4-4. As for North Clarion, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Youngsville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-7 win against Seneca on the 28th. As for North Clarion, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 24-2 defeat against Redbank Valley on the 28th.
