Basketball Recap: Valentine Comes Up Short

Valentine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the Gothenburg Swedes 73-45. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Valentine this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-15 last Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Valentine lost, don't look at Paige Sprenger. Despite the final result, she went 13 for 27 to rack up 33 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Sprenger a new career-high in points. Joni Cox was another key player, putting up four points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Valentine's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Gothenburg, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Valentine and Chadron will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
