Preview: Friends Academy Quakers vs. Lawrence Golden Tornadoes
Friends Academy is 3-0 against Lawrence since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Friends Academy Quakers will look to defend their home court against the Lawrence Golden Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Friends Academy has 13 straight victories, Lawrence has 19 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Monday, Friends Academy strolled past North Shore with points to spare, taking the game 68-50.
Friends Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Alexander mckenzie, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Jackson O'Brien was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lawrence was beaten by Malverne 61-28 on Monday.
Friends Academy pushed their record up to 15-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for Lawrence, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.
Everything went Friends Academy's way against Lawrence in their previous matchup back in January as Friends Academy made off with a 56-36 victory. Does Friends Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lawrence turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
