Basketball Recap: Clear Fork Colts vs. River Valley Vikings
After flying high against Lucas last Tuesday, Clear Fork came back down to earth. The Clear Fork Colts had to suffer through a 74-36 loss at the hands of the River Valley Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while the Vikings are ranked 59th).
River Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Smith led the charge by going 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Smith now owns an excellent 40.7% three-point shooting accuracy. Chase Ebert was another key player, going 6-for-7 to rack up 14 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Clear Fork's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for River Valley, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.
Clear Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for River Valley, they and Bloom-Carroll will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. One thing working in River Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 18 games.
