Basketball Recap: Brice Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sunrise Mountain over Green Valley

Sunrise Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost to the Green Valley Gators at home by a 59-43 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Miners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-35 back in December of 2024.

Sunrise Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brice Wilson, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points. That's the most points Wilson has posted since back in January of 2024. David Mosley was another key player, putting up four points and eight boards.

Green Valley found their leader in sophomore Lamarcus Carter, who posted 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jorden Smith, who scored seven points and nine boards.

Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Green Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Sunrise Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 102-74 loss against Valley on the 27th. As for Green Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-56 defeat against Shadow Ridge on the 24th.
