Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson City Jays vs. Smith-Cotton Tigers

For the second straight game, Jefferson City will face off against Smith-Cotton. The Jays will welcome the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jefferson City will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

While Jefferson City didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Smith-Cotton by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday.

For Smith-Cotton's part, they got a good showing from Adam Rowe, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Rowe gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Smith-Cotton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Wiskur, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Jayden Archibeque was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Jefferson City's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Smith-Cotton, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.
