Volleyball Recap: Doherty Spartans vs. Sand Creek Scorpions

Doherty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sand Creek Scorpions. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Scorpions this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 loss back in March.

Doherty started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17.

Ryan Kaiser paced Doherty's offense, picking up 14 kills. Kaiser got some help from Elijah Morrison and his 25 assists. Kaiser was also a major player on defense: he and Hayden Peterson shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Leading Sand Creek to victory were Jacob Bridge and Caleb Sacdalan. Bridge had 13 digs and one assist, while Sacdalan had 17 assists. Those 17 assists gave Sacdalan a new career-high.

Doherty's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Sand Creek, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11.
