Softball Recap: Pacifica Comes Up Short

Pacifica fell victim to Centennial and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0. The Mariners were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in March of 2020.

Ellena Ediss was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pacifica saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leyla Ayres, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Pacifica is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Pacifica didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Mission Viejo on the 4th. As for Centennial, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-9 win against Huntington Beach on the 4th.
