Softball Game Preview: Upper St. Clair Panthers vs. Moon Area Tigers

The Upper St. Clair Panthers will take on the Moon Area Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Upper St. Clair fell victim to West Allegheny and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Upper St. Clair saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Fisher, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Moon Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 10-1 to Chartiers Valley. The match marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Moon Area now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Upper St. Clair, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Moon Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Upper St. Clair hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for Moon Area, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Upper St. Clair's hitters?

Upper St. Clair was able to grind out a solid victory over Moon Area in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 6-3. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
