Basketball Recap: Wahoo Warriors vs. Crete Cardinals
On Thursday, the Wahoo Warriors faced the Crete Cardinals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Wahoo fell 90-81 to the Cardinals. Wahoo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Wahoo still got an impressive performance from Marcus Glock, who scored 54 points along with six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glock has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Simons, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Wahoo struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Wahoo's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Crete, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wahoo will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Orangemen on February 3rd. Beatrice will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Warriors are ranked ninth). As for Crete, they will head out on the road to square off against the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
