On Friday, Evansville Central faced Evansville Reitz in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Evansville Central Bears escaped with a win against the Evansville Reitz Panthers by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The win was nothing new for the Bears as they're now sitting on ten straight.

Evansville Central was led to victory by Zaryen Moore and Landyn Richason. Moore went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Richason went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points. Moore is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Daveon Smith was another key player, putting up nine points.

Despite the loss, Evansville Reitz saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaylan Mitchell went 10 of 16 on his way to 27 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lavell Tinsley, who went 6 for 11 en route to 15 points.

Evansville Central pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Evansville Reitz, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-3.

Evansville Central will head out to square off against Evansville Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Evansville Harrison is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.4 points per game this season.
