Softball Recap: Oakleaf Beats Bartram Trail for Their Third Straight Victory

Oakleaf extended their postseason success on Thursday against Bartram Trail. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bears 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Charlotte Maddox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oakleaf's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaydyn Beall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Avery Garcia was another, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Oakleaf hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartram Trail struck out seven times.

Oakleaf's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-12. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Bartram Trail, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season.

Oakleaf will challenge Pace at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. Bartram Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
