Baseball Recap: Mesa Takes a Loss

Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 12-2 to the Gilbert Tigers. The Jackrabbits were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Mesa saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Otero, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Gilbert, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa will host Red Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Mountain's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Mesa's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gilbert, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Williams Field at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilbert's pitchers better be ready for this one: Williams Field has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
