Basketball Recap: Veterans Warhawks vs. Lee County Trojans

The Veterans Warhawks pushed their score all the way to 67 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Lee County by a score of 70-67. Veterans has not had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Veterans lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chandler Thomas. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 35 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio ??tone?? scott, who scored 18 points.

Lee County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Torren Williams led the charge by scoring 18 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Williams scored 15 or more points. Josiah Parker was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Veterans dropped their record down to 12-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points per game. As for Lee County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.

Veterans will be playing at home against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Perry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 391st, while the Warhawks are ranked 127th). As for Lee County, they will head out on the road to take on the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Thomas County Central is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
