Baseball Recap: Adams City Victorious

Adams City came out on top against Thornton on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Eagles never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Mauro Acosta made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Christian Ramirez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Adams City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thornton only posted an OBP of .292.

Adams City's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Thornton, they dropped their record down to 0-18 with the loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
