Softball Recap: Duncan Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

It's playoff time, and Duncan had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Mogollon Mustangs on Friday as they made off with a 13-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildkats, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Reymia Contreras was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Duncan got a massive performance out of Paisley Patton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Khloe Brown was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

Duncan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Duncan is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Mogollon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Duncan will challenge Joseph City at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Wildkats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Mogollon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
