Baseball Recap: Verona Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Verona had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the New Providence Pioneers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hillbillies have posted since April 3rd.

Verona has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for New Providence, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Verona and New Providence are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Hillbillies will square off against Hanover Park on Tuesday. The Hornets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for New Providence, they will head out to take on Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on June 6.
