Basketball Recap: North Pitt Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

North Pitt needed a changed in momentum after dropping four straight games and they got it from Zihanna Lightfoot. The North Pitt Panthers blew past the Ayden - Grifton Chargers 47-25 on Tuesday thanks in part to Lightfoot, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last nine games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Khamoni Heath, who posted nine points and four steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games.

North Pitt's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-8. As for Ayden - Grifton, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.

North Pitt and Ayden - Grifton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. North Pitt (ranked 325th) will meet South Central (ranked 90th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Pitt has given up an average of 51.6 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Similarly, Ayden - Grifton (ranked 528th) will meet SouthWest Edgecombe (ranked 62nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
