Sandy Valley and Tuscarawas Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Sandy Valley Cardinals will head out to take on the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Sandy Valley and four for Tuscarawas Valley.

On Friday, Sandy Valley ended up a good deal behind Garaway and lost 62-45. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while the Pirates are ranked 187th).

Meanwhile, Tuscarawas Valley lost to Indian Valley on the road by a 69-51 margin on Friday.

Sandy Valley will need to focus on slowing down Barrett Bandy, one of several Tuscarawas Valley players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 9 to rack up 12 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Bandy a new career-high in points. Cole Kuykendall was another key player, putting up nine points.

Sandy Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Tuscarawas Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Sandy Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Tuscarawas Valley in their previous meeting back in January, winning 56-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sandy Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
