Softball Recap: Capital Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Capital, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against the Ridgevue Warhawks on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Audrey McKibben was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzy Turpen, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Capital was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Capital's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-5. As for Ridgevue, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Coming up, Capital will venture away from home to face off against Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. As for Ridgevue, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rocky Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Warhawks surely won't give up without a fight.
