Baseball Recap: Brookwood Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Brookwood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Fayette County Tigers by a score of 9-6. The Panthers have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Brantley Patrick looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Brooks Jones was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Markeil Williams, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Brookwood's win bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Fayette County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-15.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Brookwood will square off against Benjamin Russell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fayette County, they will take on Dora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
