Softball Recap: Buckfield's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 12

Buckfield had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Tuesday. They never let the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory. Give the Bucks' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Carmen Crockett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chloee Bennett was a standout: she went 3-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brittany Carrier, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

Buckfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Buckfield pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Old Orchard Beach, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckfield will host Wiscasset at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.55 runs per game on average), something the Bucks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Old Orchard Beach, they will take on Sacopee Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Seagulls are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
