Soccer Game Preview: Kearny vs. Hoover

The Kearny Komets will face off against the Hoover Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kearny's last four games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Thursday, Kearny sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Orange Glen. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Komets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Patriots are ranked 50th).

Meanwhile, Hoover kept a clean sheet against Clairemont on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Chieftains with a sharp 3-0 win. That three goal margin sets a new team best for the Cardinals this season.

Hoover's victory bumped their record up to 5-8-6. As for Kearny, their win bumped their record up to 3-1-3.

Kearny was able to grind out a solid victory over Hoover when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 3-1. Does Kearny have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hoover turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
