Baseball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They came up short against the St. John's Bluejays, falling 13-2. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bluejays from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for St. John's, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.0 runs this season.

For St. John's part, they gave Colton Clark the start and clearly made the right call: he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Cam Elwer was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jackson Wiechart was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Jefferson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-1 loss against Columbus Grove on the 9th. As for St. John's, they have also already played their next matchup, a 4-1 victory against Minster on the 9th.
