The McClatchy Lions will square off against the Turlock Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
McClatchy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Antelope, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Titans an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by eight runs or more this season.

Ari Silva made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Antonio Barber, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Elias Ortega, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
McClatchy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Antelope only posted a batting average of .067.
Meanwhile, Turlock had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. Everything went their way against the Knights as they made off with a 10-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Mason Hackler was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadon Boyer, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Turlock's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for McClatchy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
McClatchy's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Turlock, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will McClatchy continue to outrun the ball?
McClatchy couldn't quite finish off Turlock when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
