Basketball Recap: Appoquinimink Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Appoquinimink won the last time they faced Newark and things went their way on Thursday too. The Appoquinimink Jaguars came out on top against the Newark Yellowjackets by a score of 54-41. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Appoquinimink has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. As for Newark, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Jaguars duke it out with the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Newark, they will challenge Mount Pleasant at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
