Basketball Recap: Rowe Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

With a playoff win on the line, Rowe rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets as they made off with a 64-41 win. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 932nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Edcouch-Elsa lost, don't look at Erasmo Tamez. Despite the final result, he posted nine points and five rebounds. Jaydon Villalpando was another key player, going 7-for-17 on his way to 18 points.

Rowe has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points over those games. Edcouch-Elsa's loss dropped their record down to 18-10.

Coming up, Rowe will face off against Rio Grande City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rio Grande City will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Rowe surely won't give up without a fight. Edcouch-Elsa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
