Basketball Recap: Brody Best's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wellington-Napoleon over Crest Ridge

If Wellington-Napoleon was feeling good fresh off their 76-46 takedown of Sweet Springs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wellington-Napoleon Tigers fell just short of the Crest Ridge Cougars by a score of 53-50 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 512th, while the Cougars are ranked 206th).

Wellington-Napoleon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brody Best, who went 6 for 12 en route to 18 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Best a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jace Mefferd, who posted 12 points and five assists.

Wellington-Napoleon has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Crest Ridge, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
